Boyfriends of Brooklyn
a field guide for Kings County

My friend Paul Starr and I brainstormed ridiculous Boyfriend species, I drew the artwork, and then Paul cooked up the “flavor text” to detail their particular characteristics.

This debuted at MoCCA a little while back! You can pick up a physical copy for just $1, if you like.

Pilgrimage
A short SF story about Mars, history and connection.

A couple of weeks ago, I debuted this story as a minicomic at TCAF. Now it’s online to read in its entirety, either here or over on my site.

I don’t like to talk too much about my work when I post it — it feels like I’m trying to dictate how it’s “supposed” to be read, which I’d really prefer not to do. But I gotta be honest….this is probably one of the most intensely sincere, opening-up-my-chest-to-expose-my-beating-heart comics I’ve ever made. I have an awful lot of feelings about Mars, history and connection, as it turns out.

If you’d like to read more about the early years of Mars exploration, including the Viking program, NASA has put a pretty thorough contemporary history online for you to read.

(And if you want to own this as a minicomic, it’s only $3.)

This past weekend, I debuted a new minicomic that I made with Mr. Paul Tuttle StarrBoyfriends of Brooklyn: a field guide for Kings County.

It’s going to be print-only through the end of the con season, but here’s a quick preview of the boywatching tips within. You can pick this up from me online, or at any of the cons I’ll be doing between now and the end of May: Asbury Park Comic Con, TCAF and MeCAF!

Does the idea of an anthology full of comics by women ABOUT COMICS sound as awesome to you as it does to me? Then you should check out the Kickstarter for the new volume of Dirty Diamonds!
This is a preview for my own contribution — I can’t wait to see what everyone else came up with!

A collaboration with Paul Tuttle Starr — aka The Sockdolager — who wrote the script for me to draw.

We are both, absolutely, Category 5’s.

Hourly Comics Day 2014! Belatedly!

This year I met up with a bunch of awesome comics folks in the morning, and we had a lovely time! It was great to see Carey again, and to meet everyone else!

Guest appearances include: Carey Pietsch, Aimee Fleck, Molly Ostertag, Aatmaja Pandya, Megan Brennan, Rel, Scott and Paul

Previous Years of Hourlies: 2011 2012 2013

In the end, I couldn’t resist the siren song of Witchsona Week.
My own witchsona is WITCH OF MARS, standing atop the Viking 1 lander, dressed stylishly in a discarded airbag from the MER missions and bits of less fortunate spacecraft. My familiar is Spirit.
Dead serious, I got a little choked up thinking about this.

Doodling box-creature ideas for a minicomic I’m working on — haven’t decided which one I like the best!

Drawn on my tablet in Paper.

Someone was asking earlier about my process for creating a panel in the A Stray in the Woods comics, so I put this together to give you the basic idea. All the panels are done entirely in Photoshop, although as you can see I sometimes thumbnail sequences out on paper beforehand.
This particular panel is from a ministory I just finished this evening, which you can start reading here.

Got a new ipad stylus for Christmas, so I doodled some Crystal Gem Photobooth Silliness in Paper.
